Mechanical watches are fascinating timepieces that are beloved by many watch enthusiasts around the world. These watches are powered by a mechanical movement that uses intricate mechanisms to keep time accurately. One of the most famous mechanical movements in the world is the Swiss FHF ST-96 movement. In this article, we will explain the mechanics behind this movement and why it is so revered by watch enthusiasts.

The FHF ST-96 movement was first introduced in the 1950s by the Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon (FHF) company. This movement quickly gained popularity among watchmakers due to its reliability and accuracy. The ST-96 movement is a manual-winding movement that is known for its robustness and longevity.

The FHF ST-96 movement is a small movement, measuring just 10.5 lignes (23.30 mm) in diameter. Despite its small size, it is a well-designed movement that is highly efficient in its timekeeping. The movement has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours and operates at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz).
